Senior Curator/Curator (Contemporary Art), Singapore Art Museum - Singapore

The Curator is responsible for the development, management and presentation of SAM’s contemporary art collections through exhibitions and publications. The role demands significant engagement with the Singapore and Southeast Asian contemporary arts sector. The Curator will lead a project team of Assistant Curators to deliver high quality in-house exhibitions, international touring shows and research projects that will establish SAM as a leading centre for the promotion and development of Southeast Asian contemporary art. In addition, the Curator will work closely with Programming specialists to create a diverse calender of associated programmes to extend and enhance the exhibition experience. The Curator will liaise with the Marcom specialists to develop marketing and publicity strategies for the visual art progammes of the Museum.

Requirements:
A good honours degree, excellent speaking and writing skills, and at least 5 years working experience is required. The successful applicant will have a demonstrable knowledge of, and passion for, current art practices, especially as it relates to Southeast Asia. Sensitivity to the ethnological and historical contexts that underpin the region’s artistic practices is required. Proven ability to project manage large-scale arts projects, including publication projects is essential. Some experience in developing educational programming in relation to exhibition projects is an advantage. Experience in management of acquisitions and loans, within an institutional context is needed.
