Newlands is a popular and over-subscribed school. Our pupils do well academically: at KS4 73% A*- C (with English and Maths) and at KS5 57% of grades were A/B and 99% A – E in 2008. We are a Specialist Technology College, a Training School and have been designated a high performing school. We have an excellent reputation for sporting achievement locally and regionally and are also known for the quality of our music, drama and art.

A very large number of our pupils choose to take part in extra-curricular PE activities. Our most recent very successful Ofsted report (January 2008) commented on the both the “exceptionally high academic standards” and the “wealth of extra-curricular and enrichment activities in which the majority of girls get involved”.
